Parent/Student Memo
Week of September 6, 2010 Semester 1, Week 2

• We hope that you already received your Parent/Student Handbook and Behavior Policy. Please be sure to read them carefully and discuss anything that is unclear with your teacher, then sign the last page and turn it in to Peggy in Carnegie or give it back to your teacher in Shadyside.
• We have a new PMA project for this semester! It’s called “The Coast to Coast Musical Road Trip” and will involve students visiting one of the 50 states on a map (which we will be giving out next week) each day that they practice. Everyone’s map will be displayed when it is completed. Look for the maps and the directions next week.
• Group and music education classes will begin next week, on Sept. 13. Once again we will allow students to attend all music ed classes for free until Oct. 16, in order to sample them before paying the semester fee.
• Students in Book 3 and beyond who are interested in joining a chamber music group should fill out an application, available now. We will form the groups after we get the applications and begin rehearsals in late Sept.
• Sundae Sunday is coming! On Sunday, Sept. 19, all PMA students and families are invited to bring either ice cream or toppings to share to our school in Carnegie at 2:00pm. We will have a short play-in, a mini-recital, and then make sundaes. If your last name begins with A through L, please bring ice cream, and M through Z bring a topping.
• In case you are wondering how and when to get in touch with various PMA administrators, here is when we will usually be here: Kiki – every morning except Th., 9:00 on; Jennifer – M. 9:30 -11:30; Marina – T., Th., and F. 9 – 11; Carrie – T. 1:00 – 2:00, Th. 1:30 – 3:30; Lisa – M – 9 – 3:30, T., W. 9 – 12.
